San Diego Wild Animal Park

The spacious San Diego Wild Animal Park is a wildlife preserve
where many of the earth's rarest animals roam together in herds and flocks in vast
expanses similar to their native homelands. More than 3,200 animals
represent over 400 species. San Diego Wild Animal Park is also an accredited botanical garden
with over 3,500 species of exotic plants. It's operated by the not-for-profit Zoological Society of San Diego. The Zoological Society, dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and their habitats, also manages the World-Famous San Diego Zoo and the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species
(CRES).

Heart of Africa is a 32-acre safari walk through an African wilderness that allows guests to traverse a variety of habitats from dense forests to grassy savannas to a waterhole featuring three islands and a rustic interactive research camp. Guests stroll near animals including okapis, cheetahs, rhinos, giant eland, colobus monkeys, wattled cranes, warthogs, hornbills and
flamingos.
San Diego Wild Animal Park's
WGASA Bush Line Railway is a 5-mile, 50-minute excursion that offers the grandest views of rare African and Asian animals outside of their native homeland. Inspired by the legendary Safari trains of Africa, the WGASA Bush Line travels past herds of elephants, zebras and giraffes; families of pygmy chimpanzees; a pride of lions; crashes of rhinos; flocks of
ostriches and hundreds of other exotic creatures.

Directions from the NORTH (southbound):
From Interstate 5 (Orange County, Los Angeles), take the State Route 78 east exit at Oceanside, proceed east to Interstate 15 south, exit at Via Rancho Parkway and follow the signs to the Park. From Interstate 15 (Riverside), exit at Via Rancho Parkway and follow the signs east to
San Diego Wild Animal Park.
Directions from the SOUTH (northbound):
From State Route 163 (downtown San Diego, Mission Valley) proceed to Interstate 15 to the Via Rancho Parkway exit. Go east and follow signs to the Park. From Interstate 5 or 805 (Mexico), proceed to the SR 163, then to Interstate 15, and then exit at Via Rancho Parkway. Follow signs
east to San Diego Wild Animal Park.
Directions from the EAST (westbound):
From Interstate 8 (Imperial County, Arizona) take the Interstate 15 exit north, to the Via Rancho Parkway exit. Follow the signs east to
San Diego Wild Animal Park.
